The leading ISP, strong on the fintech software development company was facing challenges on upgrading its solution offering to its end customer. The company’s vision was to promote its software solution to a large market i.e. SMB’s & Enterprise customer segment. The current infrastructure was huge and adding additional hardware for expansion of business with its maintenance cost had become a liability for the organization and a big hit on the company’s balance sheets. Adopting newer technology and migrating its services to a cost-effective solution was the only option as the CTO mentioned. The CTO & CFO was given a mandate to look over the investments on the product offering and search for solutions to get things sorted at the earliest keeping the Companies goodwill in the market and its stability, without any compromise with low investments on IT Infrastructure.
Current Challenge’s faced by the Customer
PSSPL discussed with the customer in detail on the current challenges faced and could understand that the customer’s end-consumers were facing frequent latency issues for accessing the solution, as their complete infrastructure was on-premise. Security of the application as SAAS offering had become critical and compliance parameters were not met. The current infra provider was not able to manage and maintain the committed Service level agreement on uptime of application to its end customer, this has led to a huge business loss and were facing churns and revenue losses. Infrastructural Restructuring Suggestions:
PSSPL arranged an infrastructural assessment to understand the current infra of our customer. As per the result of assessment, we found existing servers had already reached end of life, adding new servers would add additional AMC & procurement cost, we suggested AWS Cloud IAAS offering for Data Base server with endurance storage to be hosted at Mumbai DC. A load balancer connecting the Web / Application server facing the end user for DNS services. 2 Dev/ test servers offered in the same instance. WAF services for security of the application.
The Solution Offered
PSSPL conducted an extensive infrastructure evaluation spanning over a period of two weeks to identify and understand the challenge at hand. On evaluation we built a solution for their software product which was 2 Tier deployment with Applications running on EC2 in autoscaling and Oracle database on RDS.
- Both Application and Database was hosted on 2 different subnets to configure isolation of stack and limited access to required IP’s & Ports.
- The applications were deployed with auto-scaling in-place to mitigate scalability & availability of application as and when number of users accessing the application increases.
- Oracle Database was configured in Multi-AZ which helped automatically provision and maintain a secondary standby DB instance in a different Availability Zone. The primary DB instance is synchronously replicated across Availability Zones to the secondary instance. This approach helped to provide data redundancy and failover support, also to eliminate I/O freezes, and minimize latency spikes during system backups.
- We also configured a separate Read Replica to provide enhanced performance and durability for RDS database (DB) instances. It made easy to elastically scale out beyond the capacity constraints of a single DB instance for read-heavy database workloads that customer was performing. As AWS provide Global presence with multiple regions, we offered customer access of application on Cloud infrastructure to the nearest AWS region, so that Customer can in turn provide low latency access for a SAAS offering to its end customer.
Guaranteed flexibility both in terms of performance, in order to accommodate the growth in business volumes, and customization so as to be able to adapt to future business changes. A seamless Oracle data base performance on AWS Public cloud environment, embarrassed the CTO. Adding of licenses through AWS market place of bring your own licenses saved a lot of cost to the company value added. PSSPL formulated an approach involving restructuring the infrastructure so as to give them a SAAS offering to its customers with high availability and better performance.
Services offering Summary:
In this model, PSSPL team provided onsite & offsite support through its Development Centre and ensure smooth execution of migration from on-primes to AWS public cloud as a part of support. PSSPL not only provided migration support but also proactively identified improvement areas in order to reduce the long-term cost of ownership. PSSPL proposed areas of improvement in terms of commercial impact and application uptime along with business benefit. They executed the assignment by overcoming all the challenges by using aged experience on Database supporting application migration to cloud.

By engaging with PSSPL for better execution on migrating services on AWS cloud, the Fintech ISP was able to deliver their application on Oracle database with a strong uptime and security of the application on a scalable infrastructure. As fully scalable and highly flexible created a SAAS offering for its end customers which saved a 20% of investment on the product building. Our support for the concurrent user’s using on-demand infrastructure with a high performance, giving them the desired customer experience and increased the user count by 30%. The overall business profitability increased by 12%. The customer found the cloud offering best fit for its business and is also planning to create more products in future.
